Introducing Lakdawala! Lakdawala is a luxury and sustainable jewelry brand committed to Fairmined gold, which is gold with a deep-rooted ethical traceability. In fact, Fairmined gold is more sustainable than recycled gold.

Founded & owned by sisters Naazneen Fakhri, Shabana & Sana Lakdawala, the fine jewelry brand is on a mission to show that sustainability and luxury can coexist. The sister co-founders are kicking off their movement with The Minimalist Collection.

Get excited to support a small-business making a big impact this new year. Lakdawala has all your new and favorite everyday gold jewelry essentials—without compromise to the planet, ever.

Lakdawala is committed to using Fairmined gold in each of their 14K gold and rose gold pieces. The sister team does use certified recycled gold where and when necessary, but Fairmined gold is the utmost and general standard for them. The backings to earrings are certified recycled gold because they’re not available in Fairmined gold yet, for example.

Price transparency

Marquisite Midi Hoops

“It's important for me to share the gift of gold and be attainable. Even though we are using a higher standard of gold, Fairmined gold, which comes at a premium, you will find that our prices are still competitive.”

~ Sana Lakdawala

The co-founders are transparent about how their pricing is structured because it educates shoppers on what it really takes to produce fine jewelry.

The Fairmined gold you’re purchasing with Lakdawala is backed by a Fairmined Standard. This standard ensures not only a liveable wage for the miners who dig for the gold that goes into your jewelry, but socio-economic benefits for them & their families.

The sisters named their fine jewelry business Lakdawala after their late and loving father, Mansur Lakdawala. Take a closer look at their logo and you’ll notice the three leaves represent each sister. Meanwhile, the dot on top represents their father, as if watching over and guiding the entrepreneurs.

Being sisters first

Baguette Studs

“Building a business, alongside purposeful women who are my sisters is a gift. Throughout my life, my most triumphant obstacles are the ones we have conquered together.”

~ Naazneen Fakhri

When you talk to the sister co-founders together, you’ll hear the sisters calling Naazneen didi (older sister in Hindi) or by their family nicknames. Ask any one of them to describe how they feel about the other sisters and each one will tell you how much they love one another.

From Fairmined gold, packaging, to how the co-founders work with vendors who also uphold similar values for the planet as they do, sustainability is ingrained into every detail at Lakdawala. Each sister understands & appreciates how Fairmined gold has a rigorous auditing process and standards.

If you’re in the market for new jewelry pieces and you want to shop from a small, minority or women-owned business, Lakdawala crosses a range of identities to be proud of. It’s their emphasis on Fairmined gold, however, that really sets them apart from the pact.

“As a consumer, I look for brands that share values important to me as an individual. The Fairmined organization addresses my concerns about mining, making this gold our standard at Lakdawala. This is the gold I seek for myself and what we as a brand want to offer to our customers.”

~ Shabana Lakdawala

I’m intentional about the way I shop, and if you’re reading this, you probably are also. So this new year, go with Lakdawala for pieces that are ethical, elegant & timeless.

Thank you to Naazneen, Shabana & Sana for making this story happen! And thank you glamorous readers for your support as Life Glamorized launches off to brighter possibilities in 2022.
